VMware Named New Member of Microsoft Certified Partner Program

Atlanta (Microsoft Tech Ed 2001), June 18, 2001 — VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtualization software for Intel computers, today announced it has been selected for the Microsoft Certified Partner Program. VMware made the announcement this morning at the Microsoft Tech Ed 2001 conference in Atlanta.

Microsoft Certified Partners are independent companies that offer their clients leading-edge technology through consulting, deployment, remote and on-site maintenance, helpdesk support, packaged software applications, hosting services, training, and more. Microsoft Certified Partners encompass a broad range of expertise and vendor affiliations and have experience ranging from networking, e-commerce, collaboration, business intelligence, and other leading edge disciplines.

VMware, an OEM partner of Microsoft, develops and markets desktop and server software products for the Windows platform.

"When customers are looking to implement a Microsoft technology solution for their business, their best bet is to turn to an expert—a Microsoft Certified Partner," said Rosa Garcia, general manager of the Partner Programs Group at Microsoft. "Microsoft provides its Certified Partners with in-depth access to existing and emerging Microsoft technologies and related training and resources to help ensure that they have the technical intimacy needed to deliver quality solutions. Today, Microsoft recognizes VMware for demonstrating this level of expertise and welcomes it as a new Microsoft Certified Partner."

"VMware is a committed and active contributor to the Microsoft community through its support of Windows enterprise customers, including IT groups developing, testing and deploying Windows-based applications," said Diane Greene, co-founder, president, and CEO of VMware. "Achieving Microsoft Certified Partner status is another way of demonstrating our support and we're proud to be in the program."
