Lenovo and VMware Expand ThinkServer Virtualization Capabilities
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC and SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - September 1, 2009: Today at VMworld 2009, Lenovo and VMware announced an agreement to provide VMware vSphere™ 4 on Lenovo ThinkServer offerings around the world. Starting in the fourth quarter of 2009, Lenovo will distribute and market VMware vSphere 4 through Lenovo’s sales channels. This enhanced relationship builds on a previous agreement to provide VMware virtualization on Lenovo servers sold in China.
Many businesses are interested in the benefits of virtualization technology. “IDC believes virtualization has moved to a mainstream technology embraced by most enterprises due to the potential cost savings and increased IT flexibility that server virtualization can provide. From a cost savings perspective, virtualization has the potential to reduce capex spending and improve server utilization. The ThinkServer TD200 and TD200x towers and RD210 and RD220 racks also come with Lenovo’s integrated management module that allows administrators to easily manage their servers with options for remote management. To get them up and running, customers receive a 90-day trial of ThinkPlus Priority Support providing next business day repair, 24x7 hardware and software phone support and priority call routing to advanced technicians.
