SpringSource tc Server Improves Server Deployment Automation and Management Across Broad Range of Applications

PALO ALTO, Calif. – August 11, 2010 –VMware, Inc. VMware’s SpringSource tc Server is the enterprise version of Apache Tomcat, a widely adopted application server that is ideally suited for usage in modern virtual and cloud environments.

The Development & Integration Group in John Muir Health’s ITS department is responsible for maintaining a broad range of applications that link all the department systems to the core health system. Prior to upgrading from Apache Tomcat to tc Server, all deployments within The Development Group were done manually, which used up valuable time and resources. John Muir Health needed to improve response times so they could fix problems before users noticed them. With the addition of tc Server plus JVM monitoring tools, enabled by SpringSource Hyperic, The Development Group is able to quickly resolve issues and keep applications running smoothly. 

For healthcare organizations dealing with private patient information, data integrity and server security are essential. tc Server’s secure platform allows the organization to maintain its stringent security guidelines by using the management console feature to set up security features without logging back onto the server – this alleviates concerns about location of each account.
