VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today announced Mike Hayes has joined the leadership team as Chief Digital Transformation Officer (CDTO), Jason Conyard has been promoted to Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Bask Iyer will take on a new role to the company leading the Customer Experience Advisory Council.
As CDTO, Hayes will lead the company’s worldwide business operations and the acceleration of the SaaS transition. Hayes joins VMware from Cognizant, where he was the Senior Vice President and Head of Strategic Operations at the 270,000 person IT services firm. He is also a 20-year veteran of the US Navy SEALs, including serving as the Navy SEAL Team TWO Commanding Officer in Afghanistan. Hayes joined VMware on October 13.
Conyard has been promoted to CIO from his previous position as Vice President IT, Colleague Experience and Technology. He will lead VMware's global information and technology organization, a group that manages critical technology systems supporting the company's worldwide business operations.
Bask Iyer is taking on a new role leading VMware’s Customer Experience Advisory Council. Working closely with COO Sanjay Poonen, Iyer will be responsible for delivering VMware’s world-class customer experiences, as well as the development of a new go-to-market strategy. Over the last five years, Iyer has made significant contributions to the company through several pivotal executive roles including CDTO and CIO. He brings expansive customer relationships and deep digital transformation experience to a more customer-facing position. Iyer will begin his new role in early 2021, following a short leave of absence to spend time with family in India.
