VMware’s Global Hybrid Cloud Mission Continues

VMware Cloud on AWS Now Available in 16 Regions Globally

All around the world, a broad range of customers are leveraging VMware Cloud on AWS to help accelerate enterprise migration to the cloud. By leveraging consistent infrastructure and operations on-premises and in the cloud, IT teams can quickly derive business value from the use of the AWS and VMware hybrid cloud experience.

VMware Cloud on AWS has become a force in the world of hybrid cloud across a variety of industries, including transportation, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, oil and gas, government, education, professional services, and technology.

With availability recently announced in Brazil, India Korea and Taiwan, VMware Cloud on AWS has now expanded to 16 regions globally.

Below, VMware leaders from around the world provide commentary on the launch of VMware Cloud on AWS in their region.

India
“We have seen a lot of interest from Indian customers for VMware Cloud on AWS to help with their digital transformation,” said Arun Parameswaran, Vice President, VMware India. “The availability of the solution in country will give them an opportunity to use a fast and seamless way to deploy and operate hybrid clouds with VMware.”

“VMware Cloud on AWS in India will deliver innovative capabilities and powerful solutions seamlessly for our customers,” said B.S Nagarajan, Senior Director & Chief Technologist, VMware India. “By leveraging the capabilities of the hybrid cloud, the service will provide enterprises with a fast way to migrate mission-critical applications or even entire data centers to the cloud. The service will also enable organizations to rapidly add new innovations to their enterprise applications and optimize, simplify, and modernize their disaster recovery solutions.”

Taiwan
“Customers across Greater China want to integrate their on-premises data centers with AWS to further build a consistent hybrid cloud environment,” said Bernard Kwok, VMware vice president and president of Greater China. “The availability of VMware Cloud on AWS in Taiwan will effectively reduce the total cost of operation and maintenance for enterprise cloud management, especially the cost of migrating applications between public and private clouds. Enterprise could choose cloud service on their own demands.”

To support customers in Taiwan, VMware is working with an initial set of 12 partners that can provide complete technical support for VMware Cloud on AWS to help enterprise’s digital transformation. These partners include Genesis Technology, Tatong System Technologies, Systex Corporation, Syscom Group, Chunghwa Telecom, FarEasTone, Chief Telecom, eASPNet, Digicentre, WiAdvance, Odysseus Digital, and Taiwan Mobile.

Brazil
According to José Duarte, president of VMware Brazil, this alliance enables corporations to utilize the public cloud's elasticity without losing the private cloud's security and agility. “We have succeeded in creating a seamlessly integrated hybrid offering that will provide customers an outstanding service, delivered by the private cloud leader running in the world’s most popular public cloud, without the need to purchase custom hardware, rewrite applications or modify operational models,” adds Duarte.

Korea
“Today, enterprises face new challenges and opportunities in the business environment resulting from technological innovations such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of things, and now they are considering the adoption of hybrid cloud as a matter of necessity rather than a choice,” said In Ho Jun, Country Manager, VMware Korea. “VMware Cloud on AWS not only helps to reduce cost, effort and risk associated with migrating applications to the cloud but also adds flexibility with on-demand service. By delivering infrastructure and operations that are consistent with those deployed within on-premise data centers, this service enables businesses to deploy a hybrid cloud, while keeping data in the local market.”

Helping Customers Achieve Their Digital Transformation
Developed jointly by VMware and AWS, the on-demand offering enables IT teams to easily extend, migrate, and manage their cloud-based capabilities with VMware tools. The partnership brings together the best of both companies, giving organizations the means to preserve their investments in existing applications and processes while leveraging the enhanced capabilities and scale of AWS public cloud.

Popular use cases include:

  • Cloud migration, ranging from business-critical applications to entire data centers
  • Data center extension to satisfy cyclical capacity, extend to new geographies, scale virtual desktops or enable new application development and testing
  • Disaster Recovery (DR) to replace legacy solutions, implement a new DR strategy, or protect additional workloads in the context of their existing DR solutions
