VMware Makes It Easier to Deploy Microsoft Windows XP on Virtual Machines

Guest OS Kits with Microsoft Windows XP Now Available

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 25, 2002 VMware, Inc., the leading provider of virtual computing software for industry-standard computers, today announced that its Guest OS Kits with Windows XP for VMware Workstation are now available.

VMware Workstation enables multiple operating systems to run concurrently on secure, high-performance virtual machines on a single PC. VMware Guest OS Kits with Windows XP contain pre-installed full versions of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system to ease and speed the installation of Microsoft Windows XP on a virtual machine.

"With VMware Guest OS Kits with Windows XP, we were able to install and begin using Microsoft Windows XP in a fraction of the time it normally takes to load an operating system," said Denis Leroy, senior software engineer at XDegrees, Inc. "The pre-configured virtual machines enabled us to start our Windows XP testing in no time at all."

VMware Workstation lets technical professionals spend more time being productive and less time configuring hardware, installing software, and rebooting or reconfiguring systems. VMware Workstation also makes it possible for enterprise IT organizations to run incompatible legacy applications on virtual machines on PCs running newer versions of Microsoft Windows, including Microsoft Windows XP. By providing an economical and efficient way to develop, test, support and deploy Microsoft Windows XP, VMware's virtual computing software helps accelerate enterprise migration to Microsoft Windows XP.
