First VMworld Europe Welcomes 4,500 Attendees and Nearly 100 Sponsors and Exhibitors

Cannes, FRANCE, February 25, 2008— VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, opens the doors tomorrow to the first annual VMworld Europe conference, which is being held February 26-28, 2008, in the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, in Cannes, France.

More than 4,500 attendees from across Europe, and close to 100 sponsors, have registered to attend the event featuring presentations from industry experts and virtualization end users. Attendees will have the chance to exchange information and ideas about how organizations around the world are building, managing, and benefitting from virtualizing increasingly more of their datacenters.  The conference is business-focused but with a decidedly technical slant, as VMware TSX Europe, the company’s annual technical symposium, has been incorporated into the show to bring together customers, partners and technologists at the leading edge of the industry.

“VMware is very excited to bring VMworld to Europe,” said Mark Stradling, VMware’s vice president of EMEA. “Virtualization is transforming computing -- both in the datacenter and on the desktop – and VMware continues to pave new ground as the virtualization industry leader. This conference is a great opportunity to bring our customers and partners together for what is sure to be a rewarding, educational, and inspiring experience.”

Featured this week at VMworld Europe 2008:

  • Keynotes from VMware President and Chief Executive Officer Diane Greene, Chief Scientist Mendel Rosenblum and senior executives representing many of the world’s largest systems and software companies, as well as VMware customers.
  • More than 123 breakout sessions and nine hands-on labs including solution tracks, product and technology demonstrations and specific sessions for partners, developers, press and analysts.  Many customers will be presenting break-out sessions to share real-world experiences with virtualization.
  • A Solutions Exchange showcasing new products and technology innovations from industry leaders in the virtualization market.

VMware to Broadcast Conference Keynotes

VMware plans to broadcast the VMworld Europe general session keynote presentations on Tuesday, February 26 and Wednesday, February 27.  The presentations will be available via a recorded web cast by 3:00 p.m. Central European Time and 9:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time each day. A replay will be available for approximately one month.
