VMworld 2010 Energizes San Francisco with the Leading Virtualization Event

Virtualization Leader to Host Joint Industry and Financial Analyst Day

PALO ALTO, Calif., August 19, 2010 —VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop through the datacenter and to the cloud, today unveiled the speaker lineup and sponsorship list for the leading virtualization event of the year, VMworld 2010.

Underscoring the conference theme, “Virtual Roads, Actual Clouds,” VMworld 2010 will feature more than 170 unique breakout sessions from VMware and its ecosystem of partners and customers that are driving innovation in the virtualization industry. The event will focus on reducing IT complexity and enabling IT as a Service through virtualization and cloud computing. More than 200 sponsors and exhibitors are supporting the conference including Global Diamond sponsors Cisco, Dell, EMC and NetApp, who will also be delivering Super Session keynotes.

Leading off the General Session keynote will be VMware President and CEO Paul Maritz and CTO and Senior Vice President of R&D Steve Herrod. Mr. Maritz and Mr. Herrod will outline VMware’s vision for IT as a Service and demonstrate new virtualization and cloud computing technologies that enable modern infrastructures, application platforms and end user computing on Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. PT. Continuing on the “Virtual Roads, Actual Clouds” theme, VMware will host the second Technology Exchange track for developers as part of VMworld. This three-day event is open to all developers – ISV/IHV, enterprise or academia. Leading software developers and engineers will present the latest technologies for developing and integrating apps on VMware platforms and delivering them to end users, whether in a private, public or hybrid cloud environment. Arranged in beginner and advanced levels, the sessions will provide in-depth views of developer tools, APIs, best practices and support available to developers to enable adoption of VMware platforms. 

VMworld 2010 will feature more than 30 lab topics with 18,000 lab seats conducting up to 480 simultaneous lab sessions during the four-day event. In addition, this year VMworld connects attendees directly with subject-matter authorities through the Knowledge Experts Program. These highly respected members of the VMware community – composed of customers, bloggers and VMware employees – will conduct and participate in breakout sessions and group discussions. They'll also be available for one-on-one meetings and more casual discussions as they circulate throughout the conference.
