VMware Named a Leader in Hyper-Converged Infrastructure by Independent Research Firm

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a leading innovator in enterprise software, today announced that the company is positioned as a Leader in “The Forrester Wave™: Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Q3 2018.” According to Forrester’s report, VMware achieved the highest possible score in the product strategy criterion, which is comprised of the sub-criteria of value proposition and vision, and which appears in the strategy category. For the strategy category, Forrester evaluated each vendor’s vision and road map, pricing options, research and development, customer feedback on account management, and implementation and operational support.

“The Forrester Wave™: Hyperconverged Infrastructure, Q3 2018” states that, “vSAN has rapidly added features over the past three years and now has a rich feature set to go with its tight integration into the VMware stack.” The report goes on to state, “VMware has an engineering-centric partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enable hybrid cloud, including VMware vSAN as a service.”

With over 15,000 customers including half of the Global 2000, vSAN has quickly become a leading storage platform and a key enabler of VMware’s HCI solutions. “For VMware customers, HCI is beyond just converging compute and storage in a virtualized environment,” said Yanbing Li, senior vice president and general manager, Storage and Availability Business Unit, VMware. “For our customers, vSAN is a path toward a complete VMware Cloud Foundation, and a proven full-stack software-defined data-center infrastructure powering private cloud, public cloud, and the edge.”

Since its inception, VMware HCI powered by vSAN has evolved from a simple integrated solution for virtualized compute and storage to a common architecture that spans from the edge to the core to the public cloud.

VMware now provides a full set of consumption options for HCI including: VMware Cloud Foundation, which provides integrated cloud infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, and security) and cloud management services to run enterprise applications in both private and public clouds; VxRail, a fully integrated HCI Appliance from Dell EMC tailored for ease of deployment; 500-plus pre-certified vSAN ReadyNode solutions from 15 different server vendors for complete flexibility in aligning with customer’s vendor preferences and experiences; and as-a-service from more than 500 VMware cloud provider partners, including leading cloud providers such as AWS and IBM.
