VMware to host Australia’s largest virtualization event -- Virtualization Forum 2008 Sydney

VMware President and CEO Paul Maritz to Unveil Vision for Virtualization; “Virtually Anything Is Possible”

Sydney, Australia, 7 October , 2008

— VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop to the datacenter, will host Australia’s largest virtualization event over two days starting Wednesday, October 14. The event is expected to attract in excess of 300 partners and 1200 delegates.

Demonstrating the importance of VMware’s virtualization solutions to the local market, more than 50 companies will exhibit, including VMware Platinum partners Dell, IBM, Intel, HP, NetAPP, EMC, Wyse, Symantec and Cisco.

Virtualization Forum 2008 will demonstrate VMware’s market leadership and the strength of its strategic partnerships to showcase how virtualization can transform business to drive real bottom-line results.

VMware global President and CEO, Paul Maritz will keynote at the event, outlining  VMware’s strategy globally and in Australia. It will be the first time Mr Maritz has visited the country as CEO of VMware.

VMware Australia and New Zealand vice president, Paul Harapin, said Virtualization Forum 2008 highlights VMware’s leadership in the Australian business community.

“More than 90 per cent of the ASX-listed top 100 companies are VMware customers. Our solutions are deployed across all sectors of industry and businesses of all sizes are reaping benefits from virtualization solutions.

“Importantly, VMware technology enables companies to reduce their carbon footprint, and in keeping with our commitment to Green IT Virtualization Forum 2008 will be an environmentally friendly event.”

Green Power, a government accredited green energy organisation, will power Virtualization Forum. ll event material will also be printed on recycled paper, hybrid cars will be used to transport VMware staff to and from the event and all other giveaways will be made with environmentally friendly material where possible.

Mr Harapin said VMware expects over 1,200 attendees this year, and with support from Australia’s premium IT organisations, it is the largest Virtualization Forum since it began three years ago.
