VMware Joins TSANet to Bolster Enterprise-Class Support

Membership in leading multivendor alliance is one of several recent enhancements to VMware customer support program

PALO ALTO, Calif., August 29, 2001 -- VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtualization software for Intel computers, announced today that it has joined the Technical Support Alliance Network (TSANet), the largest vendor-neutral support alliance of world-class computer product providers.

TSANet provides a framework for vendors with mutual customers to resolve interoperability issues. Members of TSANet have priority access to each other's support organizations. With TSANet, VMware customers will benefit from a multi-vendor forum that includes more than 100 companies including Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, and Novell.

Membership in TSANet is one of several recent enhancements in VMware's customer support program. VMware recently introduced 24 X 7 telephone support, and expanded services in professional consulting -- efforts aimed at raising the level of support for VMware's enterprise customers.

"With users at 5,000-plus corporations, VMware has rapidly entered the ranks of enterprise-software vendors," said Diane Greene, co-founder, president and CEO at VMware. "Membership in TSANet is just one of many things we are doing to give our customers the support they need."

Shipping since 1999, VMware products enable users to logically partition their Intel servers, PCs and laptops into multiple virtual machines -- independent, secure operating environments that enable them to run multiple operating systems and their applications concurrently. Based on patent-pending virtual-machine technology, VMware products are designed for CEOs, IT managers, software developers, quality assurance and testing engineers, help desk and technical support professionals, instructors of computer based classes, and marketing and sales "road warriors" -- all who benefit from the ability to run multiple operating systems on a single machine.

About TSANet

Founded in 1993, TSANet (Technical Support Alliance Network) is a worldwide, multivendor alliance that offers an industry-wide forum to facilitate servicing multivendor customers and provides an infrastructure for more efficient multivendor problem solving.
