Leading Technology Publication Bestows Top Honors on Fourth Generation of Powerful Desktop Virtualization Software

PALO ALTO, Calif., September 15, 2003- VMware, Inc., the global leader in virtual machine software for industry-standard systems, today announced that VMware Workstation, powerful virtual machine software for the desktop, was honored in the Windows & .NET Magazine Readers' Choice Awards. VMware Workstation won in both the Best Testing/Debugging Software category and the Best Microsoft Windows Development Tools category.

"We know that peer recommendations are important to our readership," said Dave Bernard, custom media editorial director, Windows & .NET Magazine. "The second annual Windows & .NET Magazine Readers' Choice Awards were developed as a way for readers to choose and recommend the best technology products in the industry. Receiving this award is an industry seal of approval."

Readers were asked to vote on their product preferences in 16 broad technology categories. More than 7,700 readers chose the best among more than 950 products and services.

"Few people know more about the best values in Windows technology products and services than Windows & .NET Magazine readers-the people who actually do the buying on behalf of their organizations. By voting for the most outstanding products, IT professionals have rewarded excellence in the Windows technology market," said Janet Robbins, editor-in-chief, Windows & .NET Magazine.
