VMware Partner Network Recently Recognized with Industry Award Wins

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Feb. 10, 2010—VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop through the datacenter to the cloud, today announced that the VMware Partner Network has been recognized repeatedly by a number of leading publications that report on the solutions provider industry. The VMware Partner Network is designed to provide partners with the tools they need to stand out to customers, drive both license and service business, create new opportunities, and increase profitability. During the past six months, the VMware Partner Network has continued to demonstrate its advantages and has been recognized with the following three awards:

  • ChannelWeb’s 2010 Coolest Cloud Infrastructure Vendors – This award recognizes the top vendors helping solution providers and enterprises take advantage of the ease, flexibility, scalability, elasticity and cost savings associated with cloud computing. VMware was chosen as one of the 20 coolest cloud infrastructure vendors.
  • Channel Insider’s Bull’s Eye Award – This award is community-driven and recognizes excellence of vendors, executives, solution providers, products, advocates and communities that comprise the channel. VMware was voted by readers as the winner in the Vendor Channel Programs Product of the Year category for VMware View™ 4.
  • Everything Channel's CRN 2009 Product of the Year – This award recognizes the game-changing products to hit the market in 2009 in the information technology industry and the channel. VMware vSphere™ 4 was named the virtualization product of the year.

"We have made investments in infrastructure to ensure that working with VMware is a positive experience, and it is great to see that this is being recognized by our partners and by several of the highest channel industry awards", said Doug Smith, Senior Director, Global Partner Sales, VMware. "Some of those investments include focused technical advisory groups to encourage shared feedback from our partners, as well as a broadened training and educational offering through Partner University to help our partners build a full virtualization practice."

“VMware’s partners have contributed significantly to the company’s success.  Historically, more than 75 percent of the company’s revenue has come from its partner ecosystem.” VMware currently has 25,000 partners and the company continues to implement enhancements to help partners expand their market reach. In the past year, VMware unveiled a new partner portal -- Partner Central -- to help partners increase ROI from their relationships with VMware by allowing them to easily access marketing and sales tools, sales-lead modules, market development funds, intellectual property related to virtualization services, and other tools.  All of these resources have been designed specifically to help partners grow the profitability of their VMware-based virtualization businesses.

The VMware Partner Network also includes access to VMware Partner University, a resource in which VMware partners can earn solution competencies in infrastructure virtualization, business continuity and desktop virtualization to demonstrate and differentiate their expertise to customers. Since solution competencies were introduced in 2009, more than 50 percent of Premier- and Enterprise-level partners have achieved their first competency in infrastructure virtualization or are well on their way to achieving it.
