VMware Announces Premier Distributor Agreement with Ingram Micro

Agreement Opens New Doors for VMware

PALO ALTO, Calif., June 25, 2002 — VMware, Inc., the leading provider of virtual computing software for industry-standard computers, today announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the largest global wholesale provider of technology products and supply chain management services.

"VMware's virtual computing software products allow our resellers to offer customers a cost-effective solution that spans the enterprise, from the desktop to the data center," said Jodi Honore, vice president, vendor management, Ingram Micro North America. "VMware's product line fits in well with Ingram Micro's strategy to give solution providers a wider range of platforms and products to take to market."

Under the agreement, Ingram Micro will distribute VMware GSX Server and VMware Workstation. VMware GSX Server is virtual machine software for server consolidation and software lifecycle management in a wide range of hardware environments. VMware Workstation is virtual machine software used for application compatibility, OS migration, software development and testing, technical support, training, and sales demos. Both products install like an application on top of an existing operating system and then encapsulate new operating systems and their applications in secure, isolated and transportable virtual machines.

"We are pleased to announce that Ingram Micro is now distributing VMware GSX Server and VMware Workstation," said Paul Doscher, executive vice president, worldwide sales, VMware. "VMware customers value our products for their usefulness and cost-saving properties. Ingram Micro will facilitate bringing these benefits to a much expanded set of customers."
