VMware Partner Ecosystem Supports Launch of VMware vSphere 8

SAN FRANCISCO--VMware Explore 2022 (August 30, 2022) – The launch of VMware vSphere 8 (announcement) ushers in a new era of computing with DPUs and delivers on VMware’s vision for Project Monterey. With the new VMware vSphere Distributed Services Engine capability, vSphere modernizes the cloud infrastructure into a distributed architecture enabled by DPUs. Customers will be able to achieve better infrastructure price-performance by providing more CPU resources to workloads and reducing operational overhead of DPU lifecycle management with integrated vSphere workflows. vSphere Distributed Services Engine helps meet the throughput and latency needs of modern distributed workloads by accelerating networking functions. Customers will also be able to boost infrastructure security by running infrastructure services on the DPU and isolating them from the workload domain. This has been a journey driven by our amazing set of ecosystem partners which have helped fuel this innovation and bring it to reality.

Lenovo

“The volume and complexity of today’s workloads has resulted in higher demand for software-defined infrastructure services,” said Brian Connors, VP & GM Software and Business Development, Lenovo. “With vSphere 8, Lenovo TruScale customers will be able to modernize their cloud infrastructure into a distributed architecture that offloads infrastructure services to DPUs. This will help better meet the throughput, latency, and intrinsic security requirements of modern distributed workloads. And, it provides the foundation for our customers multi-cloud environments.”
