Chief Financial Officer
Zane C. Rowe serves as executive vice president and chief financial officer of VMware, and is responsible for the company’s overall finance and accounting functions, as well as Internal Audit, Investor Relations and Real Estate & Workplace, which oversees all VMware sites worldwide. Rowe leads the Strategy and Corporate Development team in their long-term planning across VMware businesses, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic investments. He also has responsibility for the Information Technology organization and Enterprise Data & Analytics. Prior to joining VMware, Rowe held the role of executive vice president and chief financial officer at EMC.
Rowe also served as Interim CEO of VMware from February 2021 to May 2021.
Rowe has spent over 20 years in executive roles at a variety of multinational corporations spanning multiple industries. Prior to his role at EMC, Rowe led North America sales for Apple Inc., where he was responsible for the consumer channel as well as the enterprise and education segments. Rowe began his executive career in the airline industry, initially at Continental Airlines where he rose to executive vice president and chief financial officer, then as executive vice president and chief financial officer of United Continental Holdings, Inc.
Rowe holds a bachelor of science degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and an MBA from San Diego State University.
He currently serves on the board of Sabre Corporation, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
