Recent enhancements to VMware’s cloud portfolio will give organizations greater flexibility and choice to fully harness the potential of cloud in their pivot towards region’s mobile-first business environment
SINGAPORE, July 28, 2020 – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW) has announced new advancements to its VMware Cloud portfolio that will give organizations in Southeast Asia access to innovations to drive enterprise agility and mobility. This will also allow them to strengthen resiliency to grow in lockstep with the region’s rapidly expanding digital economy. The new hybrid cloud advancements include new capabilities of VMware Cloud on AWS, new generations of Azure VMware Solution and VMware Cloud on Dell EMC and general availability of Google Cloud VMware Engine, which will enable organizations to achieve cloud flexibility and choice while enhancing innovation, agility and business resiliency.
Southeast Asia’s digital economy has reached US$100 billion in 2019 and is expected to treble to US$300 billion by 2025. While the digital divide in the region has narrowed, a recent Asia Cloud Computing Association (ACCA) report noted that the progress on cloud readiness, however, has slowed down. The requirement for businesses to transition into a largely remote and distributed workforce in short notice has also increased the complexities associated with the diverse deployment models, infrastructures, management tools and processes. For organizations to succeed in such an environment, they need a robust digital foundation with cloud at its core, to enable accelerated business innovation and growth across the region’s diverse economies.
New enhancements to the VMware Cloud portfolio will give organizations the flexibility and choice to harness the full power of cloud, while driving digital transformation and business resiliency as they pivot to an app-driven, mobile-first economy.
- VMware Cloud on AWS delivers new innovations, better cloud economics: VMware’s preferred public cloud service for vSphere-based workloads, the new capabilities added to VMware Cloud on AWS include the new i3en instance type, a 2-host SDDC configuration and a new multi-tenant cloud management service will expand access and lower the costs for organizations of all sizes to migrate and modernize their VMware-based enterprise applications to VMware Cloud on AWS.
- Reduce operational burden with Google Cloud VMware Engine: An integrated service which delivers a full managed VMware Cloud Foundation stack – VMware vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, NSX-T, and HCX for cloud migration – in a dedicated environment on Google Cloud’s performant and reliable infrastructure to support enterprise production workloads.
- Deliver applications with speed and agility with Alibaba Cloud VMware Solution: Available in Greater China and Hong Kong region, organizations can extend VMware-based on premises enterprise workloads to Alibaba Cloud, without rearchitecting their environment, and manage their workflow in the familiar VMware environment without disruption on network and security.
- Availability of VMware's vRealize Automation Cloud Service: Available in Singapore and accessible across the region, the service enables the rapid delivery of any new applications and manage the lifecycle of these services on any cloud to meet business needs and a consistent cloud experience on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or VMware Cloud on AWS to serve consumers' needs.
“With the emergence of next-generation technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence and modern applications, cloud is the key driver in unlocking unprecedented opportunities in Southeast Asia's exciting innovation ecosystem,” said Sanjay K. Deshmukh, vice president and managing director, Southeast Asia and Korea, VMware. “In addition to scalability and agility, organizations in the region are also looking to maintain consistency across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
